Natalie and Keaton’s once-in-a-lifetime day was filled to the brim with out-of-the-box spring wedding ideas that are sure to stick in the memories of both the newlyweds and their guests. From the vibrant pastel color palette to the surprise April shower (read: sideways downpour that sent us all running), everything about their magical wedding day screamed, ‘Spring is here.’ And as you can see from their gallery, the photographs we captured together are colorful and enchanting beyond belief.

If you’re planning your 2025 spring wedding and brainstorming creative ways to have a day to remember, might I suggest taking a page from Natalie and Keaton’s book? Here are some things the newlyweds incorporated into their “I do” day that made it the most whimsical and joy-filled for everyone, myself included!

Six enchanting spring wedding ideas for 2025.

Dreamy Pastel Wedding Florals

A moment for the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, minimal floral tablescapes, and floral arrangements scattered around the venue, please. The incredible Blushing Garden handled all of the blooms for the day, and they were the loveliest addition. They helped the guests and bridal party forget about the dreariness that the rain brought, and they added so much romance and playfulness to the wedding. I felt like I had stepped right out of a storybook, fairytale and all.

Mismatched Rainbow Pastel Bridesmaid Dresses

I could not (and still cannot!) get enough of Natalie’s decision to have her bridesmaids clothed in the most gorgeous rainbow pastel bridesmaid dresses I have ever seen. From delicate bows and ruffles to layered cuts and soft colors, the bridesmaids looked so springy and playful alongside the blushing bride, adorned with hair and makeup by Sage and Saffron Beauty Co. I feel like pastel bridesmaid dresses will for SURE be a 2025 wedding trend for how much character it adds to the wedding photos and details of the day.

Iconic Cake for Spring Wedding Ideas

The cake for the cake-cutting portion of the reception was so simple, but so exquisite… and frankly? Iconic. The newlyweds really thought of everything when they brought the pastel color palette into their cake details. And I’m sorry, but the bow that matched the shoulder bow on Natalie’s asymmetrical wedding dress?! Absolute perfection.

First Look Down the Aisle

Okay, so as a documentary-style wedding photographer, I am all about waiting to do the first look as the bride comes down the aisle. While candid and authentic moments can (and will!) be captured no matter how you choose to do your first look, there’s something about the bride and groom not seeing each other until literal moments before they say “I do” that opens itself up to so much whimsy and wonder. Keaton couldn’t fight the tears as his beautiful bride appeared on the other end of the aisle, and I just know that Natalie and Keaton will cherish their photographs that much more for how I captured what their precious, intricate moments together actually felt like.

Late Night Bites: Brick Oven Pizza and Donut Bar

Playfulness and imagination even made its way into the catering for the wedding reception at The Midnight Gem. Natalie and Keaton truly thought of everything! The brick oven pizza from Stonewall Brick Oven Pizza was such a fresh and casual approach to the reception dinner, and a late night donut bar kept the guests fueled up throughout their night of uninhibited laughter and dancing.

Off-Site Bride and Groom Portraits

Because Natalie and Keaton opted for my 10-hour coverage option, we had more than enough time to wander away from the venue after the ceremony for some alone time. Not only did this give the newlyweds a chance to be together in a calm environment, officially as husband and wife, but it also gave us the chance to capture a whole different “vibe” for their bride and groom portraits. The towering columns and elegant setting was a nice contrast to the more bright, colorful elements of the rest of the day, making Natalie’s and Keaton’s final gallery that much more well-rounded.

When you hire me as your photographer, we spend a ton of time in the planning process, equipping you with the right amount of coverage for you and your special day and ensuring that everything plays out exactly as you want it to. After all, this only happens once, and you deserve for it to be every bit the wonderful experience that you’ve always dreamed of!

More Spring Wedding Ideas

I could go on and on about the details of the day that caught my eye (Natalie’s asymmetrical dress! The photo wall for guests! The sparkler exit! Flash photography at the reception! You name it!), but what ultimately makes a wedding day special is the way the bride and groom feel about each other. All of the details matter and inform how you experience one of the most magical days of your entire life, but you could take all of that away and it would still be enchanting for how much you and your significant other love each other. Whether spring, summer, fall or winter, you’re choosing the rest of forever together, and that’s the most magical part of all.

If you’re planning your 2025 wedding and still looking for the documentary-style photographer to capture what your love feels like… well, you might have found her!

HI, I'M MICHAELA!

making art of your everyday

I’m a Minnesota photographer drawn to the kind of moments you feel before you fully see them. I chase good light, quiet gestures, and the small details that make a day feel beautifully ordinary and monumental at the same time. My work leans film-forward and instinctive, shaped by texture, movement, and whatever honesty the moment gives me.

When I’m not shooting, you’ll usually find me lingering over a matcha latte, thumbing through a stack of dog-eared books, or wandering somewhere with my camera just in case the light does something interesting.
